Data Analysis

The first step to building a strategy is to understand the scope of the tasks ahead.  And the first step to understanding scope begins with an understanding of the basic components that form those tasks.

Electronically Stored Information has become so ubiquitous in this digital age that sometimes we loose sight of the fact that ESI is very unique and distinct from traditional paper evidence.

The variety of system files in existence today, along with the sheer volume of electronic files that a typical case would have to deal with can be overwhelming.  And in order to make informed decisions about legal strategies, review workflows, cost, time, and resource estimates, a thorough understanding of the data at-hand is crucial.

Along with cost analysis, let APLCS give you our knowledge on data analysis.  We help your team analyze the potential data set to give you an idea of data volume, data types, meta-data fields involved, and the best strategies to efficiently and economically analyze the data.

Basic Ratios

To assist you in taking the first step to controlling the data, below are some genral conversion rations.  As often noted, ESI is not the same as paper evidence.  There will never be a true 1 to 1 match between the numbers describing paper and the numbers that describe electronic files.  But the below ratios should be a safe starting point.
